Route 67

I was on way back from friends place.  Journey started from Bedok where he lives. 91.3 was playing Shakira’s Waka Waka in my ears. Football fever is high in the city. From Bedok it takes Geylang Rd. You peep in to old style colonial settlements with shades of Malay and Chinese colors. Neon lights of 80s & Portuguese single and double storey houses with small colorful windows. Tiles of 50s & 60s, that were not boring place, the immortalized carved roses. It entered Paya Lebar from here; where I wondered with RK on night of Ramadan. Felt hot curries or RK instantly on tongue.

From here it entered Lavender St where I lived for first half of my time in Singapore. I will miss Jalan Besar for time to come, Arab St, Coffee Halia, North Bridge Rd, Teah-C @ Ya Kun with boss, Funan Mall. Lavender St connects to Jln Besar where I spent literally all Saturday mornings while I was Singapore, had glimpse of Mustafa and Syde Alvi Rd as well.

After visit to Perumal temple there were always two options; Murugan Idli Shop or Komala’s Murugan always cored an extra goal. If air lines allowed boss must have definitely asked for take away tea from Saravana Bhavan. Quintessential need of our on Saturday mornings. Thought I always made tea in the mornings on weekend; one was never enough for boss.

From there bus took usual Bunit Timah and Upper Bukit Timah Rd. one of the plush localities of Singapore which never excited me on this journey which I made often on Saturday while visiting temple. I closed my eyes and relived every moment of my last year in Singapore.

About Ken

I just realized that I wanted this blog to be anonymous. Then why should I describe anything about myself. :) Funny. I took 5 years to realize it. Nonetheless, today - March 25, 2011, I have deleted anything that - describe yourself, about you, or whatever of that sort. View all posts by Ken
